Synopsis

The Sociopath is a Greek crime / experimental short film about emotional absence, violence without moral reasoning and the unsettling horror of a world stripped of empathy.

A man devoid of empathy leaves his dead mother’s body to decay in the living room, continuing his life without grief or responsibility. The situation remains hidden until a neighbor accidentally sees what has happened, forcing his private moral emptiness into the outside world.

Director statement

“This Experimental film was born from an exploration of the uncanny, the absurd, and the unsettling.”

The film creates a world devoid of empathy and justice, where reality is stripped of moral weight and actions appear to exist without consequence.

Visual approach

The film embraces an expressionistic aesthetic, using unnatural color palettes, calculated framing and high-contrast lighting to reflect the protagonist’s disturbed inner world. Cold blue suggests detachment and calm calculation, while red, pink and green function as emotional and symbolic intrusions.

Narratively, the film is built as a monologue-driven experience. There are no conventional dialogues, only the protagonist’s voice-over and his distorted perception of reality. The result is a minimal, hyper-stylized short film about the absurdity of violence when stripped of traditional motivation.
